About Judyann
Born in Brooklyn with a passion to create, Judyann Affronti drew chalk animals on the sidewalk while her friends were making hopscotch boards. Her education at CUNY included art history and painting, but she discovered a greater love for collage for which she received awards at juried exhibitions in the Northeast, including the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit. Her collages were sold at B. Altman in NYC and in fine department stores across the country. Judyann later transitioned her passion into more dimensional forms of art: embellished jewelry boxes, Christmas home decor, interior and floral design and most recently, jewelry. The work presented here includes handcrafted jewelry incorporating semi-precious stones from all over the world, a body of work she has titled "Romancing the Stones". Her designs reflect a love of natural stones with influences of Africa, India, Mexico and the Far East. Constantly re-inventing, she gains inspiration and creative ideas from new places; a recent vacation in Newport, RI spurred a new line of necklaces that incorporates Victorian buttons with freshwater pearls. With an impeccable eye for mixing colors and patterns, she creates necklaces and bracelets that are unique, bold and memorable. Her style has been described by her customers as "earthy and elegant". They are one-of-a-kind, yet affordable pieces that will definitely be noticed in a crowd. Judyann currently lives in Glen Ridge, NJ with three wonderful cats and her loving and patient husband, who can deal with the needs of a very creative wife. Each December, they turn their Victorian home into a boutique for a weekend selling fabulous ornaments, wreaths, holiday accoutrements and, of course, necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
